The pieces are thick enough that my toddler doesn't get frustrated trying to fit them, which was the whole problem with our old cardboard puzzle. Knowing it's FSC-certified wood makes me feel a bit better about her chewing on the corners too.

My 18-month-old can actually grip these chunky pieces on her own, which surprised me since most puzzles are too thin for her fingers. The wood has a nice weight to it and the painted cat face hasn't chipped at all despite being chewed on daily.
